PAST TENSE

Past tense is a kind of tense which is used to describe an event or action that happened in a certain time in the past.

How do we make a Simple Past Tense :

·           The Pattern :

(+) S + V_II + Complement

(-) S + did + not + V_II + Complement

(?) Did + S + V_I+ ?

·           For Example

(+) Farah, Ani, Windi, and Sifa went to tangkiling yesterday

(-) They did not went to tangkiling yesterday

(?) Did They go to tangkiling yesterday ?

We conjugate the verb to be (I was, you were, she/he/it was, we were, they were)

How do make a Past Continuous Tense

·      The pattern

(+) S + to be (was/were) + verb (ing) + Complement

(-) S + to be (was/were) + not + verb (ing)+ Complement
(?) to be (was/were) + S + Verb (ing) + Complement + ?

·           For example

(+) I was reading book when father watched TV

(-) I was not reading book when father watched TV

(?)was I reading book when father watched TV ?

How do we make a Perfect Tense

·           The Pattern

(+) S + had + V_III + Complement

(-) S + had not + Complement

(?) Had + Subject + V_III+ Complement + ?

·           For Example

(+) My Mother had slept when I came Last night

(-) My Mother Had not slept when I came last night

(?) Had slept when My Mother came last night ?
